Beyond COVID19

 Season 2020/21

Training and Practice

Having lost the summer expeditions of 2020 and the qualifying expeditions of 2020 we set about our recovery program with the long term view of getting our groups through training and then qualification through the summer and autumn of 2021.

The Duke of Edinburgh award did a grand job of introducing a variety of modifications that supported students with their sections and the school leaders with getting the program back on track. Unfortunately it did mean we lost some participants along the way and they opted to do the Certificate of Achievement rather than the full award.

In the end we managed a hybrid training and practice expedition for our year 9 Bronze award students and some of the gold and silver award students who had missed a much needed practice expedition. Thanks again to Rich Adventures for helping us along the way. We all had a very busy season.

Our expedition over Cannock Chase ended well and was drier than the past few years, so that was nice. It was also a battle of the drones between Mr Vaughan and Pete.

Milford Common

Following this at the end of the school year we then merged our expeditions to complete all of the training and practice needs of our remaining old and new Silver and Gold award students. In addition to this we had all of our year 9 students and 1 gold team to get through qualification plus a European Cup Final to watch somehow! This was a big one we had over 120 participants to manage through training, practice and for some qualification. Our location was Buxton, with the Silver and Gold groups venturing into the beautiful Dark peak region.

England verses Italy cup final. Great atmosphere even if the result was tough to take
