Expedition season is go...
The start of June saw the completion of our year 9 bronze award training. the students completed their training over Cannock Chase with their supervisors on day one. The students then set off on a 2 day practice expedition. They had planned a two day expedition, it was now time to put all the hard work in to practice.

Early morning before the the start of the practice expedition
The weather on day 1 was perfect. Some cloud cover with a nice bit of sunshine on occasions. A few quick sharp showers but nothing to really even wet the ground. Bliss...
Day 1 went smoothly and all groups got back to camp in good time. Camp craft skills were developing nicely. We even had time for some smores. Only if day 2 could be just as nice. The weather forecast was grim...
Day 2 - Rain and more rain.... the weather was very testing for even experienced walkers so I think that the girls did an amazing job and kept going even through the rains was so relentless. Well done to all. Let's hope that the qualifier gives you an experience of fine weather. Hat and sun cream are on the wish list. :-)
Off we go... Milford here we come.
Great to see the students showing true determination and grit, the weather was terrible. Some staff even pulled out an emergency shelter for lunch while waiting for groups!
Last coach away, somewhere dry. See you soon. Alstonefield here we come. Just remember DofE is about all aspects, Skill and Physical development, Doing something for someone else by Volunteering and finally having an adventure and doing something that challenges you physically, emotionally and mentally but above all gives us all a taste of adventure out in the countryside.#wearedofe, #haveandventure.
